CPI Intern of the Month: Cole Church
May 13, 2026

Cole Church is a first-year Doctor of Audiology student who currently holds a Career Path Internship with 麻豆原创’s audiology program. Church serves as the hearing aid repair technician for the ISU Audiology Clinic on the Pocatello campus, where he supports patient care by inspecting, cleaning, repairing, and evaluating hearing aids.
In his role, Church replaces parts such as wax traps, receivers, tubing, and sports locks, completes listening checks and electroacoustic analyses, documents results, manages device tracking, coordinates repairs with manufacturers, and prepares hearing aids for patient fittings. He has also assisted in training first- and second-year graduate students under supervision, contributing to their learning while helping ensure patients continue to receive high-quality, compassionate care.
“The ISU audiology program is nominating Mr. Cole Church for the CPI of the Month award,” stated Deborah Vieira, clinical associate professor and Church’s supervisor. “Normally, this position is reserved for second year graduate students; however, Mr. Church was offered this position prior to the beginning of his first year, due to his reliability and passion for the field of audiology.”
Church’s experience in the clinic has shown him the impact ISU audiology has on both students and the broader community.
“Being involved in ISU’s audiology clinic has provided me a unique benefit to understand how beneficial a clinic like this is for both the students and the community,” Church explained. “It creates a hands-on learning environment where future audiologists can develop their skills under talented audiologists and ensure that we are delivering meaningful care to patients.”
In addition to his clinical work, Church has helped organize the clinic repair room and develop new protocols to enhance clinic efficiency. His supervisor described him as an excellent mentor to other students who is always willing to assist classmates, staff, and faculty.
“Mr. Church’s exceptional initiative, exemplary work ethic and desire to help others are commendable and deserving of recognition,” Vieira stated.
Originally from Cheyenne, Wyoming, Church expects to graduate in May 2029. After graduation, he plans to open an audiology practice with his wife, Carley, somewhere in Idaho. Together, they hope to serve rural communities while prioritizing the same goals and values that ISU Audiology has instilled in them. Church also expressed gratitude for his wife and the ISU Audiology Department.
“I could not have done this without their support,” Church said. “I am becoming the man and audiologist that I am because of their guidance. Go Bengals!"
