Program Admission

Applications for the DMS program and RS program are found below by expanding the buttons below. Please review the admission requirements for the prospective program BEFORE submitting an application. Students are encouraged to meet with the department faculty for application questions and advising.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program offers a certificate and fulfills the requirements necessary to sit for the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography exam. Admission to our program is highly competitive. Openings are limited primarily due to limited available clinical education centers. As a result, a means of selecting those students with the greatest potential for success is necessary. Preference is given to Idaho residents. Students should access our website after November 1 to download the application. Completed applications, official transcripts, and the nonrefundable application fee should be received by our office by February 1 of the year you plan to apply.  If the 1st falls on a weekend the application must be received by the Friday preceding the deadline date.

Applicants must possess current ARRT RT(R) registration and certification (or be a student eligible to take the ARRT radiography exam). Verification of credentials required. 

OR

Hold an AAS, AS, or BS Degree in a medically-related major, with a minimum of 12 months of patient care, as well as the prerequisites listed in the brochure below.

Preference will be given to radiographers in the selection process.

 

Please review the DMS Admission Requirements to ensure you are ready to apply. Please note that we do require official ISU transcripts and all other official college transcripts to be sent to the department. If paying application fee online, please include a receipt with your application.

The Radiographic Science program offers a Bachelor of Science degree. Admission to our program is highly competitive. Openings are limited primarily due to limited available clinical education centers. As a result, a means of selecting those students with the greatest potential for success is necessary. Preference is given to Idaho residents. Students should access our website after January 1 to download the application. Completed applications, official transcripts, and the nonrefundable application fee should be mailed or brought into our office by May 15 of the year you plan to apply. If the 15th falls on a weekend the application must be received by the Friday preceding the deadline date.

Please review the RS Admission Requirements to ensure you are ready to apply. Please note that we do require official ISU transcripts and all other official college transcripts to be sent to the department. If paying application fee online, please include a receipt with your application.

Application Updates:

All Applications for the 2026 Application season must be to our department by May 15th, 2026 at midnight.  ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION IS PREFERRED EMAIL robingardner@isu.edu

Your application must have the following items to be complete:

  1. Completed Application
  2. Paid Application Fee and Receipt sent to department
  3. OFFICIAL ISU TRANSCRIPT, OFFICIAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT IF CLAIMING ADVANCED PLACEMENT OR DUAL ENROLLED CREDITS, AND ALL OTHER OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS (for all college level classes taken) sent to department.

ISU transcripts must be ordered before May 15th, 2026.  There is an option when ordering your transcripts to select “After Grades are Posted”. Once ISU has finalized grades and posted them they will send your official transcript to our office. They may arrive after the deadline but as long as you have a receipt showing you ordered them prior to the deadline we will still be able to use them.
